1. Gather content & create a schedule (Recommended: Facebook & Instagram)

Focus on one or two social networks, if you try to be everywhere then you’ll end up nowhere.

Mastering one or two social networks looks better than having 5 or 6 social networks that never get updated.

Focus on posts with photos or videos because they’re proven to draw your fans’ attention better than posts without photos or video.

A person’s Facebook feed is determined by the kind of content you normally engage with so it’s important to post a variety of content types. Some people might prefer images, some videos, and some links. Get creative and try different things to see what your audience reacts best to.

2. Use A Scheduling Tool (Recommended: Facebook Creator Studio, CoSchedule, or Hootsuite)

Remembering to post every day and taking the time out to do it? Most people don’t have time for that! Social scheduling tools like Facebook’s Creator Studio, CoSchedule, and Hootsuite will help keep all of your social media up to date.

Set aside one hour a week to schedule all of your social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc) and you’ll look like an expert in no time!

Popular posts related to your blog content should be reworked and rescheduled for a later date if possible. For example, if you create a blog post then you can create multiple social media posts, videos, and email blasts from that one piece of content.

Each industry has different post frequency best practices; if your engagement is high on each post then try posting more often and if it’s low then try posting less often.

The most important thing is to keep a consistent schedule! Posting consistently helps your account create momentum with your audience and will drive your engagement higher. When a fan knows you post on a specific day every week then they’ll keep an eye out for your post and if they engage then your future posts will be much more likely to appear in their feed.

3. Follow The 80/20 Rule! (Tip: Have Your Ads Professional Designed)

No one wants to be sold to all the time, it turns people off and they’re more likely to unfollow your business if you do so.

A good rule of thumb is that 20% of your posts should be “hard selling” such as advertisements and 80% of your posts should be helpful or entertaining posts that casually promote your products or services, or “soft selling”.

Soft selling is an art. You’re talking about things related to your business but it’s not an advertisement. Soft Sell Example: Posting about a local event and mentioning that your business is nearby and would love for event patrons to stop in.

Hard selling is easy, it’s usually a sale or promotion your business is running. Make sure you use high-quality advertising/promotional images with these posts. You want your customers to associate your business with quality!

Increase your audience by boosting your posts to reach more people. A few ways you can use boosted posts include:

  1. If your engagement is low you can promote your posts to your current page’s followers.
  2. If you want to build your audience you can promote your posts to local people or regional people that are interested in your niche.
  3. If you want to increase product or service sales, then you can promote a post that drives traffic to your sales page.

If you’re planning on creating promotional images for a sale or special then we recommend you hire a graphic designer. High-quality promotional images can be used over and over in the future.

Remember: Never post anything that is unrelated to your business! You’ll only attract people who aren’t interested in your business and will probably never convert. Follower count is a vanity metric, it makes you feel good but doesn’t necessarily lead to more revenue.
